“Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7:38

Do you ever wonder if anyone truly understands you?

Many of the people I walk with carry the weight of being misunderstood. Some have heard “just have more faith” when what they really needed was compassion. Others feel disconnected in church or community, despite attempts to engage with others. Trauma and stress can leave us feeling cut off — not only from ourselves and others, but even from God’s presence.

You’re in the right place if…

You’ve been told you’re too much or “too sensitive”

Past experiences weigh heavy on your heart and it feels like truth just can’t land

You experience the world differently — and often feel misunderstood because of it

You’ve felt dismissed with advice like “just pray harder” or trust God more”

Church or community spaces sometimes leave you feeling more alone than connected.

You long for a place where your whole story can be held with compassion

Rooted Healing for the Soul

A Nervous System Approach to trauma, stress, and emotional healing

Trauma and chronic stress don’t respond well to “just try harder,” quick fixes, or more positive messages. When the nervous system is overwhelmed, even the truths you believe or the practices you’ve tried can feel out of reach. Your body holds onto what hasn’t been resolved.

Whether you’re grounded in faith, questioning, or navigating complicated spiritual experiences, your system still deserves space to settle. In therapy, we slow things down, listen to what your body is carrying, and work gently at the root so relief becomes possible—not forced.

Together we follow what you’re sensing and feeling, helping your nervous system release what’s been stuck and reconnect with clarity, calm, and peace.

  • Your whole story is welcome here—your doubts, your faith, your grief, your anger, and the parts of you that feel shut down or overwhelmed. We move at a pace that feels safe and grounded.

  • EMDR helps your nervous system process what’s been stuck so your body can release old stress and trauma.

IFS helps you understand and heal the internal parts that carry fear, pain, or overwhelm.

  • If it aligns with your comfort and beliefs, we can invite the presence of God into EMDR and IFS processing sessions. Sometimes, He will speak directly to you or appear as a visualization in your processing.

  • As a highly sensitive person (HSP) and familiarity with ADHD and those on the spectrum, I understand how to meet people in a way that is gentle, affirming, and supportive of their needs.

  • As your system settles, the things you’ve been striving for—clarity, connection, emotional stability, spiritual openness—stop feeling out of reach and start becoming lived experiences.

Why I do this Work

A smiling woman with long, wavy brown hair wearing a teal top against a teal background.

Long before I became a therapist, I sat in the client’s chair with three different professionals, hoping for help—but none of them could reach me. It wasn’t until God Himself stepped in and walked me through healing that I finally started seeing progress.

The Lord used what I would later come to find out was IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy) and He did so with me all on His own. That experience reshaped everything I believe about healing: He knows the tools better than we do, and when He is present, the process can move with a depth and efficiency that is unmatched.

This experience led me to create Heart for Healers where I combine proven therapy approaches like EMDR and IFS with space for faith and God’s presence—for those who want it—so you can find not just coping skills, but lasting transformation.

“I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe not only that trauma is curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening- a portal opening to emotional and genuine spiritual transformation— Peter Levine, PhD
